Makayla's Last Days of Kindergarten
On May 19th, Makayla performed in her first school play. She was a little butterfly in the play: A Froggy Day In Lindentown. The kids were adorable and did an awesome job. Makayla was a little dazed out and couldn't remember all of the words to the songs, but she still did a good job. I thought that for kids ages 5-8 the little performance was excellent! I was impressed! They did so much better than the older group of kids who sang a couple songs and played some rhythms on various percussion instruments.
The next day was Makayla's last day of school. Her old school is being torn down because they are building a new school behind the old one. This was the last year for Columbine Elementary and because of that the school sponsored a "Farewell to Columbine" day for parents and alumni. I missed most of the program, but we spent the rest of the day at the festivities. After lunch, the kids had a ultimate play day at the park next to the school. There were jump tents, a slip-n-slide, a dunking booth, a magician, a fire truck that sprayed the kids, and treats. The teachers were all going crazy because they felt they had little control, but all the kids had a ball and there were many parents there to help so it turned out to be fine. Makayla sat in the dunking booth twice and she was the last one to get dunked before they closed it all down. Adam helped Austin do the honors. He tried to throw the balls, but when he missed Adam just picked him up to push the button. As for Kelsea, she was afraid to go on the slip-n-slide and watched the other kids play on it for probably close to two hours. She finally decided to try it and from then on she played on it non-stop. She even got Austin to go a couple times. Makayla, Kelseanja, and Austin were all soaked, but they enjoyed themselves. Thankfully, Jaxton slept through most of it.
Jaxton Update-2 Months
Although I still have a couple of posts to catch-up on, I wanted to add a quick update on Jaxton. Two weeks ago, I took Jaxton in for his two month check-up and we learned that he now weighs over 13 lbs and has grown about four inches since he was born. Talk about a growing boy! And last night Jaxton laughed for the first time while I was tickling him.

Wedding Fun and More Adventures
The week of May 8- May 12 we were traveling and visiting. Thursday we traveled to Logan, UT and stayed with Lacey and Dan. It pretty much took all day. When you have four kids a six hour drive needs to be drawn out a bit, so we stopped in Orem, UT to visit a friend. Then we headed up to Logan after that. Friday, we visited with Lacey and Dan, saw the Oscar Meyer Wiener mobile at Wal-Mart. That night, Lacey and Dan babysat the kids and Adam and I went out to dinner. Then Adam drove me around Logan to show me his old stomping grounds.
Saturday, we stopped at Willow Park Zoo. We didn't realize it was Zoo Day and that there were a lot more activities going on aside from viewing the animals. They were promoting their new attraction, Capuchin monkeys. We also saw a albino porcupine, two bald eagles, a couple bobcats, lots of ducks some with ducklings, an owl, tons of turtles, and many other animals. It was loads of fun!
We had to hurry through the zoo though because we had to get to Jenny and Riyo's wedding which was in Ogden. Which was also the main reason we went on the trip. Not to mention Makayla and Kelsea were flower girls. (I took video of the wedding and wedding activities, but have been unsuccessful at copying the video onto my computer.) Also, while I was videoing the ceremony, Austin was putting dirt on my feet. It was really difficult not to move my feet. The girls had to stand in the wedding line during the ceremony, and if it were a really short ceremony they would have been just fine, but the sun was in their faces and they got a little board. Kelsea started straying and was not standing nicely and Makayla being the 'little mommy' that she is told Kelsea to be good or else she would "ruin the wedding for everybody."Always a Precious Moment

On the way home we stopped to see Grandma MacPherson. We don't get to see her often, but we had a good visit. We always love to see her and I know she loves to see us too. When we got to her home, Adam knocked on the door. When Grandma come to the door the surprised look on her face was absolutely priceless. She was so excited to see us. The funny thing about us showing-up at that particular time, is that she was about to call Adam's mother to find out what we were doing. Then before she could pick-up the phone we appeared at her door. While we were there it started snowing. We hadn't seen snow in Colorado for several weeks so the kids thought it was neat.

The wedding was beautiful and I think everyone enjoyed themselves. Especially the Newlyweds. Sunday, we went to my cousin, Ben's homecoming. Only two members of our entire family on my mom's side) were missing.

Botanical Gardens
Saturday Adam had the day off so we all went to the Western Colorado Botanical Gardens. Although it is just down the street from us, Saturday's trip to the gardens was our first. There they have a butterfly house with two rooms full of tropical plants. The first room had a couple of turtles, a toad, and a pond full of fish. Some of the interesting plants were orchids, a tangerine tree, several tall bamboo trees, and many other plants which all had huge leaves. As someone who loves to take pictures, I was in heaven! I brought my camera and my new camcorder and took as many pictures and videos as I could. The kids loved the fish in the water and tried smelling the flowers along the path. In the second room were the butterflies. There weren't many butterflies yet, but they had just released nine Orange Julius butterflies which were absolutely beautiful. There were more interesting plants and flowers in the second room as well. Two of my favorites were the Indonesian Evergreen and the Hibiscus flowers. Both were very colorful. As for the outside gardens, they haven't been planted yet this Spring so we will have to go back and see it when there are more butterflies and more gardens. Next to the gardens is another building and outside there is a fun little area for the kids to play. It has a castle with a mini-maze, a giant, a dragon (with slide), and a sandbox. The kids didn't want to leave. This was our first official outing as a family since we had Jaxton. (See more picts on the blog entry below this one.)
