Happy 1st Birthday Jaxton!

Saturday, Jaxton celebrated his first birthday. There is nothing like showing how fast time flies like your baby turning one. This past year went by so fast! It seems like I was just posting about Jaxton's birth and now he is one year old, walking, and even climbing on the couch. And until his birthday we didn't realize how well he could feed himself with a spoon. Soooo may milestones all at once! But Jaxton has never been one to just stay still. And now that he is walking no one else is either. To help celebrate Jaxton's big day, Grandma Lawona and Aunt Kaloni came to visit. For his party Jaxton opened his presents, played with his toys, and enjoyed eating cake and sherbet. He even tried blowing out his single candle all by himself. And yes he got pretty messy.

We let him have at his cake. At first he just looked at it trying to decide if he could eat it or not. Then he decided to try a little bit of frosting. And when no one stopped him he decided to try a little more, and gradually he started eating handfuls. Pretty soon we had the classic 1st birthday cake and frosting covered baby.

After he was all cleaned-up (and his sisters and brother were in bed) Jaxton played some more with his new toys. He loved being the center of attention as Grandma, Mommy, and Aunt Kaloni watched, played, and laughed with him. Because of all the attention he was getting he also did a lot of showing off. We played peek-a-boo around the furniture which is not only his favorite game to play, but everyone elses' too because it is so fun to watch his face when someone surprises him. He played pretty hard until about midnight when he finally crashed. Jaxton's first birthday was offically over.
What a fun day full of smiles, laughs, excitment, and cake!

Visit to the Car Museum in Gateway, CO

This weekend a friend and her family took us to Gateway, CO where there is this really neat vintage car museum. Talk about cool! Below is one a small handful of what is there. I know that both my dad and my father-in-law would love to come see these cars. That is all I could think of while I was there: 'Dad would love this one, oh and this one, and...I got to get him here so see this!' When I was growing-up my dad would take me to car shows. He would try to educate me on what was what, but I, on the other hand, would show him the ones I thought looked nice to me. That is the way most women chose cars right? I usually would pick out the Cameros. It didn't matter what show we were at I would always seem to unknowingly pick out the Camero. My dad would just smile and say: "That is a Camero." Then I would reply with total surprise "Really, I must like Cameros." Anyway, we had a great time and Gateway is a short drive from Grand Junction so we might go more often. Not to mention the scenery is beautiful even in the winter time. The kids thought the cars were neat, but mostly they were excited to be there with friends. Thanks Shelly for showing this museum! Oh, by the way Dad 'I like the Camero!'
