Blue Angels

Today was a busy day with me teaching preschool, having visiting teachers over, doing my visiting teaching, dropping off a b-day gift to a friend, cooking dinner, reading with Makayla, and making a video for this post. The main highlight of the day was a practice show where the Blue Angels kept flying over our house and around the valley today. It was so amazing to watch! The first time they flew over I didn't think much of it until I looked out the window and saw who they were. All the preschool kids were outside holding their ears and staring in amazement. Throughout the day we kept running outside to see the jets as they flew over. Three times they flew so low over our house you felt like you could almost touch them. One of the times I was outside holding Jaxton and they scared him and he grabbed onto me really tight. I covered his ears because they were so loud. The Blue Angels are putting on a air show this weekend, but I don't think we will be able to go. I am actually babysitting a newborn so his parents can go help out with the air show on Saturday and Sunday. It is okay though because we watched the jets all day today. Anyway, this is about all I can write for now because I am about to fall asleep. Enjoy the video!

Kids, Tile, Paint

Adorable Picture taken at Shelly H 's Baby Shower on 8-31-08
(Thanks for the picture Shelly)

This week has been quite the week already and it is only Wednesday! Saturday I spent most of the day cleaning house. Later, I watched Betty's kids so her and her husband could have a date.
Our kids and Betty's kids all on the couch watching a movie Saturday

Then Sunday is always crazy getting everyone ready for church. Once there it isn't so bad, but getting there is the biggest challenge. One of the leaders that teaches Austin in nursery tells me almost every week how much she just loves him. She thinks he is a little 'sweetheart'. (I feel the same way about him.)

Monday, I went and helped Shelly R with her major project. She had company coming on Tuesday and she was in the process of tiling her bathtub. She hadn't planned on doing it except while she was painting a couple of the old tiles in her bathtub fell of reveling black mold and no wall behind the tiles. So, her and her husband, Eric, had to rip all the old wall out and put new wall in. When she called me she only had one small wall tiled which Eric had done Sunday night. (This is her only full bathroom.) It would have gone faster for us except Eric had also put mortar on the other wall and it had dried so we had to scrape it off before we could put tile on. It was a pain not to mention very messy! When we had enough scrapped off we started putting tiles up. Did I mention that I have never tiled before? Anyway, by the time we finished we had about half of the larger wall finished and it looked really nice. We ran out of mortar and I had to leave because it was getting late. During the night my arms and hands starting hurting so bad I had a hard time sleeping. I must have used muscles that I haven't used in awhile. Talk about a crash course in 'how to tile a bathtub'. (Don't get any ideas Mom. Maybe next summer.)

Tuesday, I spent the day working on my kitchen table. The old finish had worn off and last week I sanded the table so I could refinish it. Instead of just getting some new stain I decided to paint it. Not just one color, but artistically. I thought a nice scene might look good. Although, what I have painted so far looks good I am not sure if I am going to like it. Maybe when I am finished? I guess if I don't then I can resort to painting it one color.

Last night I watched two of Shelly R's kids so that her, Eric, and their company could go out to dinner. Today, I am sore and tired and I don't think I am going to do very much. Maybe later I will paint on the table. Haven't decided yet.

I had to put these adorable pictures of Jaxton on the blog. Aunt Lacey and Uncle Dan got him this cute out fit and I thought they would like to see that he is now wearing it. Thanks for the clothes!

Jaxton and his first juice (For some reason this picture won't load right side up.)

Jaxton on his belly trying to drink his bottle. He always does this and then he always gets upset.

Today, Jaxton had his six month check-up. He is doing well aside from a small cold. He has slowed down a bit growing which is just fine. Two months ago for his four month check-up he weighed 16 lbs 1 oz (I think I remember right.) Today, he weighed in at 17 lbs. 10 oz. He also is 26.5 inches long and last check-up, I think he was right around 25 inches. Anyway, today he had his first taste of apple juice and of course he loved it! He learned to roll over last week and now spends most of his time on his belly and hands or his hands and knees. Yes, he probably will be crawling very soon because he is already up on his hands and knees rocking. I am not quite ready for him to be crawling, so we will see how long it actually takes him. Anyway, we love him and are happy he is doing so well.

We Let the Toad Go

Dinosaur Jammies

Last night both Austin and Jaxton were in their dinosaur pj's. I had to catch the cute moments these two brothers shared (while in their Dinosaur Jammies). So Precious!

Just a little Note: Okay, you have probably noticed the collages. I tend to take a lot of pictures and the Picasa program allows me to make quick collages which makes it easier and faster to put several pictures online. I will probably make collages when I have a lot of photos I want to share. The title collage was done with my scrapbook program, but the others have been with Picsa.

Park Fun

Yesterday, after Kelsea was done with school I took Kelsea, Austin, and Jaxton to the park. (Makayla was still at school.) Jaxton tried out the swing for the first time. The sun was so bright that I couldn't get him to look at me, but Here are his first pictures where he 'played' at the park too.

Austin's Backpack

Austin of course couldn't be left out of the school excitement, so I had to get him a backpack and a pencil box with crayons. I didn't go so far as to buy him school clothes, but I took his picture as well so that he could show off his new shoes and his new backpack. I think he is such a little clown sometimes with all his funny faces.

Kelsea's First Day of Preschool

Tuesday was an exciting day for Kelsea because she finally got to go to school. Some ladies in my ward and I have gotten together and created a joy school/preschool for our children to attend. The plan is to rotate each week. We have five mothers and six kids. This week we started and so far things are going well. Kelsea absolutely loves school and hates it when I come to get her. She loves playing with her friends and wishes she had school every day. I took her outside Tuesday and took some pictures of her in her new school clothes and her new backpack.

'Toad'ally Interesting

Tonight I was outside in the front yard pulling weeds when I found a toad. I caught it for the kids to see. Here are some pictures. We put it in a tank and have fed it crickets. (We seem to have an abundance of crickets this year.) Anyway, we will probably let it go tomorrow since we are not really supposed to have pets and I would much rather let it catch its own crickets. I told the kids that they could touch the toad, but they were all afraid at first. After a little coxing Austin touched it then Kelsea touched it really fast. Makayla refused to touch it at all. "It's slimey." She said. I told her that it was just wet not slimey, but she still refused. I asked the girls which one of them was going to kiss the toad to see if it was a handsome prince and the girls both looked at me with strange looks "I'm not kissing it!"Makayla said. "Me either!" Kelsea added. It was funny watching all the kids' reactions. As much as Makayla refused to touch the frog she was interested to know what it ate. I knew that they liked bugs, but we still got online and looked-up information on toads. Based on what we read we think our toad is a female. Maybe she is actually a princess under a evil curse. Hey, Adam Kent you should come kiss my toad because it may turn into a beautiful princess :o) . You never know.
