Makaylaism #2
It is time for another Makaylaism.
Last week I was walking into the kitchen to cook dinner and saw a toy dinosaur on the floor. Makayla was right behind me so I said "Oh, I don't know what to cook for dinner. Maybe, we should just have dinosaur meat." Makayla responds with "I don't think I like dinosaur meat." I then asked her if she had ever had any dinosaur meat before, and she said "I haven't but my friend has and she said she doesn't like it." I was a little surprised at this answer so I asked Makayla where her friend found dinosaur meat. "She got it in the ground with the dinosaur bones." I then explained that there was no way that her friend could have dinosaur meat because the dinosaurs have been dead for a long time. Makayla not missing a beat says "Well I think that your mom and your grandma has probably had dinosaur meat before." Trying hard not to laugh hysterically at her innocent response I asked "So you think that my mom has been around since the dinosaurs?" "Yes." she said. Then I explained, still trying not to laugh too hard, that dinosaurs had been gone for millions of years before both my grandma and my mother were even born, so there was no way that they could have ever tasted dinosaur meat. (This is still funny even weeks later.)
Jenny & Riyo Visit
A week ago Jenny & Riyo came to visit. We had a full day of activities: First, we went to KidPlex which has a fun indoor playground for a small fee (parents play free). Jenny, Riyo, and Jenny's mother Marie came and joined us. Jenny & Riyo even climbed through the tunnels with the kids. Marie and I sat with Jaxton and watched all the kids play. After KidPlex we went to McDonalds and had lunch where my kids and Riyo climbed through the tunnels. I think my kids really like their new 'uncle'. When lunch was over Jenny took the girls and that group went to the mall and I took my boys and we went to help a friend with her computer. Later, we met at the Cone's house and celebrated Jenny's grandma's b-day and looked at wedding photos. I thought I had a lot of wedding photos, but I can definitely say that Jenny and Riyo have a ton more photos. It was really fun to see Jenny & Riyo as we love it when they come to visit.
Last week I also got some pictures of "my boys". Jaxton's naps, Adam's favorite form of babysitting, and Austin's spiky hair.

Tribute to Our Dad's
When you wanted to go for a walk... I followed
When you were teaching... I learned
When you read to me... I listened
When you danced with me... I danced along
When you sang to me... I smiled
When you tickled me... I laughed
When you hug me...I always know you love me
Because you are my Dad!
God took the strength of a mountain,
The majesty of a tree,
The warmth of a summer sun,
The calm of a quiet sea,
The generous soul of nature,
The comforting arm of night,
The wisdom of the ages,
The power of the eagle's flight,
The joy of a morning in spring,
The faith of a mustard seed,
The patience of eternity,
The depth of a family need,
Then God combined these qualities,
When there was nothing more to add,

Happy Birthday Makayla!
When I was One,
I had just begun.
When I was Two,
I was nearly new.
When I was Three
I was hardly me.
When I was Four,
I was not much more.
When I was Five, I was just alive.
But now I am Six, I'm as clever as clever,
So I think I'll be six now for ever and ever.
--A.A. Milne
Makayla is now six years old. Her birthday landed on Memorial Day this year we did three days of birthday. Sunday the 25th we gave Makayla a present early because Adam was going out of town for the week and he wanted her to open at least one present, a teeter-totter that also can spin in a circle. The kids love it! They would love it better if it had three seats, but this way they get to practice taking turns. Monday, her actual b-day, we went to a park we hadn't been to before and had lunch. The kids played and had a lot of fun checking out the new playground. After the playground we went to her friend, Eleesa's house. There we left the boys with Eleesa's dad and took Eleesa's mom and her with us shopping and then to the movies. Us mothers watched Prince Caspian and quite enjoyed it, but Makayla, Eleesa, and Kelsea were more interested in their snacks through most of the show. Towards the end they did get more interested in the movie except Kelsea who fell asleep on my lap. After the movie, we went back to Eleesa's house and got the boys and also brought Eleesa home with us for a sleepover. The girls we so excited that they didn't want to go to sleep for awhile. Tuesday, Makayla opened her presents, had cake and ice cream, and played with some 3D sidewalk chalk another friend gave her. Then after lunch we went back to the same new park and let the kids play for awhile again until the heat got to us then we took Eleesa home.
Makayla had a lot of fun and only wished she could have had her other friends come and play for her birthday too (Vernal friends and Ogden friends you know who you are.) I still can't believe that Makayla is already six years old. She just amazes me with how much she has grown and learned. And no matter how many birthdays she has she will always be my first baby.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------I thought I would give you a Makaylaism-Makaylaisms are funny phrases Makayla says. Here is one from yesterday: "Oh, by the way, I just barely learned a long time ago, that when it is hot we like cold and when it is cold we like hot." (She is talking about the weather.)
